Teacher Training Places
We are also part of the SCITT teacher training programme. For more information please visit www.astra-alliance.com
Applications for recruitment in both primary and secondary subjects can be made via UCAS.
Holmer Green Senior School partners with the Astra SCITT to offer secondary post-graduate training places in a range of subjects - see the Astra SCITT website for more information.
During the training year, all trainees will have the opportunity to spend time in at least one other of the partnership schools to ensure a contrasting and comprehensive experience. The SCITT has considerable experience of training teachers and recognises and values the enthusiastic contribution that they make to our school communities. Staff at the training schools will share their knowledge and good practice to ensure that trainees are well-supported to develop into good and outstanding teachers. The programme is structured to allow trainees to develop the skills required to teach the subject that they are training in and to develop specific expertise for making a distinctive contribution to practice in their setting.

Generous bursaries are available in certain subjects. We also offer school experience visits for both primary and secondary - please contact Gill Byrne at gby@challoners.org for more information.
In addition, we offer an alternative route to teacher qualification and also work with The Bucks Hub Partnership (The Bucks Hub) in offering school-based Initial Teacher Training at Holmer Green Senior School. The Bucks Hub has many years of successful teacher training experience and offers trainees an excellent school-based route to qualification through their uniquely tailored teacher training programme across Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.

Another route into teaching is through Teach First's SCITT programme. We have successfully worked with Teach First for the past three years and they offer a hands-on approach that ensures you're in the classroom from the start. You can find out more about their programme here.
